Oleg Belozerov, the President of the Russian Railways Open Joint-Stock Company, has visited terminal of Ust-Luga Oil OJSC
Alexander Drozdenko, the Head of Leningrad region, and Oleg Belozerov, the President of the Russian Railways Open Joint-Stock Company visited terminal of Ust-Luga Oil OJSC on August 28 within the framework of the working meeting at Ust-Luga port. A complex of issues related to the development of railway infrastructure and ensuring transport safety in the north-western region has been discussed in the course of the visit.
Oleg Belozerov has visited a section of the railway leading to Ust-Luga port (Saint-Petersburg – Baltiysky – Gatchina – Veimarn – Kotly – Ust-Luga) as well as Luga railway hub. The reconstruction of Mga – Gatchina – Veimarn – Ivangorod section and approaches to ports of the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland is the biggest investment project at the railways of the Russian Federation.
The freight traffic activity to Ust-Luga reached 51 mln. tons in 2014. The railway freight traffic activity is expected at the level of 65 mln. tons of cargo by 2020. The "solution of the government task on increasing the export potential of Russia and reorientation of traffic flows" has been identified as the purpose of the railway project.
The terminal of Ust-Luga Oil OJSC became one of the first objects visited by O. Belozerov after he had been appointed to a position of the President of the Russian Railways Open Joint-Stock Company, which certainly testifies to the strategic importance of the object both for the industry and for the Russian Federation as a whole.
